TISAX® Assessment Costs - A Clear Breakdown
Automotive suppliers that handle sensitive data win and keep contracts by holding a TISAX® label. The label proves that your information security meets the VDA® ISA requirements OEMs expect.
But a TISAX® assessment costs money, and the total varies widely depending on how you prepare. This guide splits the cost into two parts: the fixed fees every participant pays, and the much larger preparation cost - which you can control, and largely replace with software.
What does a TISAX® assessment cost?
There is no single price. The total is made up of fixed fees paid to ENX® and your audit provider, plus the variable cost of getting your information security management system (ISMS) ready for the assessment. The fixed fees are predictable; preparation is where companies spend anywhere from a few thousand euros to six figures.
The fixed fees every participant pays
These two costs are unavoidable, no matter how you prepare:
- ENX® registration fee: €405 net per location and scope, charged once by the ENX® Association. There are no recurring fees during the assessment's validity, and discounts apply from five locations upward.
- Audit provider fee: roughly €3,000 for an AL2 assessment and about €9,000 to €12,000 for AL3. The exact figure depends on your assessment scope, the number of locations and interviews, travel, and the assessment level you need.
The assessment level is set by your customer: AL2 covers information with a high protection need, AL3 applies to very high protection needs and confidential or specially protected data. The higher the level, the more on-site testing the auditor does - which is why AL3 costs more.
The real variable: preparation cost
Preparing your ISMS for the assessment is where the total really moves. Traditionally this means consulting, and the range is wide:
- Small companies typically pay €10,000 to €25,000 for consulting support.
- From around 50 employees this rises to €25,000 to €35,000.
- For large or complex organisations working with a top-tier consultancy, it can exceed €100,000.
A typical engagement starts with a project kickoff of about two consulting days (around €4,000), with the rest of the budget spread across scoping, gap analysis, documentation, awareness training, and corrective actions over the project.
Across 700+ Valiido projects, the largest hidden cost is internal time - often several hundred hours of your own team. Estimate your own case with the cost calculator for TISAX® to compare cash and internal hours across in-house, consultant, and software.
How Valiido changes the math
The fixed fees - ENX® and your audit provider - stay; every participant pays them. But the consulting block is exactly what Valiido replaces. Instead of a €10,000 to €100,000 consulting project, Valiido gives you the software to prepare yourself: a step-by-step Guide through every TISAX® and ISO® 27001 requirement, 200+ ready-to-adapt examples, and AuditMagic checks that flag gaps before the auditor does - from €149 per month.
So the honest math is: ENX® registration plus audit provider fee (unavoidable) plus Valiido from €149/month, instead of ENX® plus audit provider plus a five-figure consulting bill.
TISAX® label validity and renewal
A TISAX® label is valid for three years. After that you complete a re-assessment to keep it, which means the ENX® registration and audit provider fees apply again. The re-assessment typically costs around two-thirds of your initial assessment, since the groundwork is already in place; it depends mainly on whether your scope, assessment level, or organisation have changed.
How to reduce TISAX® assessment costs
- Start early - more lead time means fewer rushed, expensive corrections.
- Scope precisely - only assess the locations and information your customer actually requires.
- Replace consulting with software - the Valiido platform covers preparation, so you do not pay day rates.
- Choose an audit provider near your sites to keep travel costs down.
- Learn the requirements up front to avoid follow-up assessments.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does a TISAX® assessment cost?
The fixed fees are an ENX® registration of €405 net per location and scope, plus an audit provider fee of roughly €3,000 for AL2 or €9,000 to €12,000 for AL3. On top of that comes preparation, which traditionally costs €10,000 to €100,000 in consulting - or from €149 per month if you prepare with Valiido instead.
What is the ENX® registration fee?
ENX® charges €405 net per location and scope, once, under its standard Assessment Based Charges model. Discounts apply from five locations upward.
What does the audit provider cost?
An AL2 assessment is roughly €3,000; AL3 is about €9,000 to €12,000. The price depends on scope, the number of locations and interviews, travel, and the assessment level.
How long is a TISAX® label valid?
Three years. After that you complete a re-assessment - typically around two-thirds the cost of your initial assessment - which means the ENX® and audit provider fees apply again.
Can I reduce TISAX® costs?
The fixed ENX® and audit provider fees are unavoidable, but the largest cost - preparation - is not. Replacing a consulting project with the Valiido platform removes the five-figure consulting block while you pass the same assessment.
Conclusion
A TISAX® assessment costs more than the headline audit fee: budget for the ENX® registration, the audit provider, and - by far the biggest variable - preparation. The fixed fees are fixed, but the preparation cost is yours to control. See how Valiido prepares you for TISAX® or view pricing from €149 per month.
